The city of Nettuno is expanding its international sporting footprint as local municipal leaders formally present the participation of the Voga Veneta Nettuno crew at the upcoming Regata Storica in Venice, according to municipal announcements.
Municipal Handover Highlights Venice Showcase
During a presentation held in the municipal council room in Nettuno, Mayor Nicola Burrini handed the official city flag to Nando Taurelli, ensuring the banner will wave along the Grand Canal during the early September regatta. The event receives official patronage and support from the municipal administration led by Mayor Burrini alongside Vice Mayor Cristina De Carolis.
Tourism and International Exposure
Local officials view the regatta as a platform to project the coastal city’s tourism assets via live broadcasts on RAI. Tourism Councilor Marco Federici emphasized during the press conference that municipal backing aims to elevate Nettuno’s profile among those who participate in a Regata of such importance. “This splendid initiative that brings the name of Nettuno to a great international showcase was underestimated for too long,” Federici said. “As an administration, we intend to sponsor it and make ourselves known also in Venice.”
Community and Corporate Backing
Backing for the rowing delegation comes from a coalition of local stakeholders, including beach establishment operators, the Proloco Nettuno, and the Bcc di Nettuno. Marco Belleudi, speaking on behalf of local beach operators, noted that supporting the Voga Veneta crew serves as a point of pride alongside the beach shuttle. Nando Taurelli expressed appreciation for the collaborative momentum, stating that for the first time they feel the city of Nettuno is close to them while preparing to showcase local beauty, beaches, and the value of safety and rescue.
Looking Ahead to Future Planning
Looking past the September competition, Mayor Burrini outlined plans to build upon the current tourism momentum and establish programming for next year. “The season is proceeding and we are happy with how it goes, but we are already starting to think about next year’s event,” Burrini stated. Team organizers and city officials will monitor broadcast schedules and final race preparations as the delegation completes its training ahead of the Venetian exhibition.
