Mexican archer Maya Casas Lara is shaping her international career by competing in the inaugural World Archery-KAA Youth Invitational 2026 in Incheon, South Korea, according to international sports reports. Representing both Querétaro and Mexico in the Under-21 Women’s Recurvo division, Casas finished the individual qualification round in 18th place with 596 points, while the Mexican women’s recurve team secured sixth place overall with 1,789 units, as reported by Update Me.
Stepping Up on the International Stage in Incheon
The first edition of the World Archery-KAA Youth Invitational brings together young archery prospects from around the globe to compete in recurve and compound disciplines. Organized through an invitation from World Archery Korea, the August tournament provides a competitive arena alongside joint training sessions where athletes and coaches share technical expertise. Facing competitors from established archery powerhouses, Casas uses the South Korean event to gain experience ahead of major global multi-sport games.
Building Momentum Toward the Youth Olympic Games
The South Korean competition follows a string of performances for the Querétaro native. In July, Casas secured an undefeated qualification spot to represent Mexico at the upcoming Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. She earned her ticket to Senegal after successfully navigating three phases of the national selection trials held at the Mexican Olympic Committee facilities.
Her competitive resume also features an outing at the 2026 Pan American Youth Championship in Medellín, Colombia. At that continental tournament, Casas captured two gold medals—winning the individual qualification round and the Under-18 mixed team event—alongside a bronze medal in the women’s team competition. Domestically, she claimed individual gold in the Under-18 category at the 2026 CONADE Nationals, helping the Querétaro archery delegation amass a haul of 18 medals.
Coaching Leadership and Next Checkpoints
Casas prepares for her international fixtures under the technical guidance of Cristian Eduardo Lucio Martínez. With her ongoing experience in Incheon serving as a stepping stone, her focus now shifts toward the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, scheduled to run from October 31 to November 13.
