French international defender Lucas Digne has officially completed a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain on a three-year contract from Aston Villa, according to an official announcement from the reigning two-time European champions. The 33-year-old left-back, a native of Meaux in Seine-et-Marne who started his professional career at Lille, returns to the Parc des Princes after previously representing Paris Saint-Germain from 2013 to 2015 before an eventual loan move to AS Roma due to limited playing time.
A Return With Added Experience
“I return as a man. I am also different as a player,” Digne said in an interview published by the club. “I have more maturity and experience, and I want to bring that experience to the group and win a huge amount of trophies.”
Following his initial spell in the French capital, Digne built an extensive European resume that included stints at FC Barcelona from 2016 to 2018 and Everton from 2018 to 2022. Most recently, he featured for Aston Villa, where he lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy last season under manager Unai Emery.

Paris Saint-Germain secured the veteran defender to serve primarily as a backup to Portugal international Nuno Mendes.
