The 24-year-old athlete from Oedelem became the first Belgian competitor ever to participate in the high diving discipline at a European Aquatics event, according to regional sports reporting.

Roels opened his campaign on the first day by sitting in 12th position after his initial dives. He then climbed one spot higher during Saturday’s final rounds to secure 11th place overall. Catalin Petru Preda of Romania claimed the European title with a commanding score of 411.60 points.
Training Hurdles in the French Capital
Training sessions in the Seine were canceled due to water pollution levels, leaving athletes like Roels searching for alternative ways to practice ahead of the tournament.
Despite limited water training time in the official venue, the Belgian competitor executed his routines cleanly enough to hold his standing among Europe’s top high divers.
