Stepping Up to the WorldTour
French climber Jordan Jegat is making the leap to the WorldTour. The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Lidl-Trek running through the end of 2029, as confirmed by official team announcements and reports from ProCyclingUK and Le Figaro.
He leaves TotalEnergies after cementing his status as one of the most reliable stage-racing talents outside cycling’s elite tier.
Consistency on the Grand Stage
Jegat has finished inside the top 10 at each of the past two editions of the Tour de France.
During the 2026 Tour de France, he secured 10th place overall—finishing 33 minutes and 21 seconds behind five-time champion Tadej Pogačar—by exploiting tactical breakaway opportunities. On Stage 17, he successfully infiltrated the day’s primary breakaway, gaining 8 minutes and 46 seconds on the main yellow jersey group to lock down his top-ten standing.
That performance mirrored his consistency from the previous year. Earlier in the 2026 campaign, he captured the first professional victory of his career by winning the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs in the spring, overcoming a challenging winter preparation noted by Lidl-Trek.
Targeted by Team Management
His three-week consistency and tactical instincts made him a primary target for Lidl-Trek manager Andy Schleck, who noted that the Breton rider possesses a natural feel for the race.
This transfer marks Lidl-Trek’s first major recruitment ahead of the 2027 season. The German-registered squad views his climbing capabilities and tactical awareness as vital assets to bolster their Grand Tour roster, providing crucial support in high mountain stages while maintaining options for overall classification finishes.
Looking Beyond the Tour de France
By joining Lidl-Trek, Jegat aims to expand his racing calendar. The French climber has indicated a desire to discover the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España under the guidance of his new WorldTour team, allowing him to test his endurance across a broader spectrum of three-week stage races.

Reflecting on the agreement, Jegat expressed enthusiasm about joining the WorldTour peloton.
«Je suis vraiment enthousiaste et fier de rejoindre l’équipe. (…) J’espère continuer à progresser, à apprendre et atteindre mon plein potentiel au cours des prochaines années», the rider stated in an official team release published by Le Figaro.
He also noted that reuniting with close friend and teammate Julien Bernard played a significant role in facilitating the move.
Integrating into the 2027 Roster
As Jegat prepares to close out his tenure with TotalEnergies and transition to Lidl-Trek for the 2027 season, attention turns to how the squad will integrate his skill set alongside existing Grand Tour contenders. The team has not yet released its preliminary 2027 race schedules, but official announcements regarding early-season training camps and roster confirmations are expected in the coming months.
