According to announcements from the DFB supervisory board and company assembly of DFB GmbH & Co. KG, standing room will return starting with the men’s national team Nations League fixtures against Greece on September 27 in Augsburg and Serbia on October 1 in Munich.
DFB Brings Back Safe-Standing for Men, Women, and U21 Fixtures
The decision follows years of lobbying by German football officials within European football’s governing body. Officials worked closely with UEFA over recent years to advocate for the return of standing options at international fixtures and major tournaments, viewing them as an integral element of stadium atmosphere in Germany. Under the newly implemented policy, standing areas will be rolled out across fixtures featuring the men’s senior team, the women’s A-national team, and the Under-21 youth selection.
UEFA Pilot Program Expansion Drives the Policy Shift
The legal and organizational foundation for the rollout stems from a formal decision by the UEFA Executive Committee. Following a targeted observation program for standing areas in men’s European club competitions that began during the 2022/23 season, UEFA extended the framework into the 2026/27 campaign and widened its scope to additional continental tournaments.

Ticket Pricing and Public Sale Schedule
Alongside preserving traditional fan culture, the DFB positioned the policy as an affordability measure. Neuendorf emphasized that football must remain accessible to all supporters through reasonably priced admission tiers. Public ticket sales for the upcoming autumn Nations League matches open on August 18. Standard standing-room tickets are priced at 18 euros, while members of the official national team fan club (Fan Club Nationalmannschaft) can purchase them at a reduced rate of 15 euros.
