Speaking in the mixed zone after the race, Daguinos revealed that his preparation had been severely disrupted by wildfires in the Gironde region. “I had to quickly find a training location. Friends hosted me, supported me all week, and stayed home from their vacations so I could train in good conditions,” Daguinos told France Télévisions. “This represents years of work, finally a concrete result in championship racing. It’s my first international medal on the track, it’s just huge, I am so happy.”

While Daguinos celebrated his breakthrough, Jimmy Gressier faced familiar heartbreak on the European stage. The bronze medalist over the distance in Tokyo in 2025 has repeatedly found himself just off the podium at the continental championships, having finished fourth and fifth in prior 10,000-meter appearances at Munich and Rome.
