A Regional Homage to Frankfurt’s Iconic Cider Pitcher
Eintracht Frankfurt has unveiled its third kit for the upcoming season, paying a distinctive regional homage to the traditional grey-blue ceramic jug known as the Bembel used for serving local apple wine, according to reports from Frankfurt media outlets. The design has already sparked significant supporter interest and early retail activity across local platforms.
The release follows the club’s traditional red-and-black striped home shirt and white retro away kit, rounding out the playing attire options for the Hessen side. As detailed by apparel watchers and club coverage, the light-grey alternative shirt features intricate, flowing floral and vine-like graphics mirroring the hand-painted motifs traditionally found on authentic Franconian cider pitchers.
Central Crest Placement and Symmetrical Patterns
In an unusual layout choice for the club, the Eintracht Frankfurt crest and the manufacturer’s logo are positioned centrally on the chest rather than the traditional left and right sides. Local reporting indicates this placement allows the emblems to integrate smoothly into the symmetrical Bembel pattern covering the fabric.
Early Retail Rollout and Standings Sightings
While official, full-scale retail rollouts and wider availability are expected closer to August, early merchandise has already appeared in select online storefronts and local test matches.
According to regional coverage, children’s versions of the shirt start at approximately 75 euros, and supporters were spotted wearing the distinct grey jerseys in the stands during a recent 5-1 friendly victory against FSV Frankfurt.
Reviving Apple Wine Culture in Club Kit History
The design marks Eintracht’s second major stylistic nod to local apple wine culture in recent history. During the 2013-14 campaign, the club introduced a petrol-colored away kit patterned with rhombuses to resemble a traditional “Geripptes” cider glass.

That iteration debuted in a Rhine-Main derby against Mainz in November 2013, a match the club lost 1-0, prompting then-manager Armin Veh to famously vow never to wear the design again.
Campaign Ambitions and Continental Aspirations
Whether the Bembel kit will see competitive action on continental stages next term will depend on the final Bundesliga standings and subsequent kit selections.
Supporters awaiting the official global release can monitor club channels and official retail portals for availability updates ahead of the August rollout.
