Camping on Untamed Sands With a 1970s Caravan
The journey was marked by profound fatigue. Towing a 1970s caravan behind their car, Ponsa and her companions decided to pull over at the Ebro Delta. Back then, the coastal stretch was virtually deserted. That first visit unlocked a ritual of return: she came back repeatedly, initially camping alongside friends and later bringing her family in a motorhome.
The Slow Shift Toward Organized Facilities
Decades have brought undeniable changes to the region. Motorhome and camper infrastructure has evolved significantly, transforming into highly organized setups. Yet Ponsa notes that the surrounding environment has largely managed to preserve its original character.
A Rare Stretch of Wild Coastline Left Intact
The beach zones continue to defy heavy commercialization, featuring minimal infrastructure and very few beach bars, known locally as xiringuitos. “You can still go to places where you hardly coincide with anyone, it feels great, and it’s a bit wild—I love it,” Ponsa explained.
