Altay Bayindir Secures Season-Long Loan to RC Celta de Vigo
RC Celta de Vigo has signed Turkish international goalkeeper Altay Bayindir on a season-long loan from Manchester United for the 2026–2027 campaign. The agreement features an included purchase option on his federal rights, according to official club announcements.
From Süper Lig Roots to Old Trafford History
Bayindir’s career traces back to the youth systems of Bursaspor and Ankaragücü. He made his professional debut with Ankaragücü before establishing himself as a reliable starter across four campaigns with Fenerbahçe. In 2023, he transferred to Manchester United.
At Old Trafford, he logged more than 1,500 minutes across domestic and European competition. In doing so, he carved out his place as the first Turkish player in the English club’s history.
Italian Training Camp and Napoli Friendly
Celta confirmed that Bayindir will travel directly to Italy to link up with manager Claudio Giráldez and the rest of the squad. The team is wrapping up its Italian training camp with a high-profile friendly match against Napoli.
The Battle for the Balaídos Starting Berth
Upon arrival at Balaídos, Bayindir faces a direct challenge for the starting goalkeeper role. Romanian international Ionut Radu has held down the position as an undisputed starter since arriving in Vigo during the previous summer transfer window.
Giráldez and his coaching staff will evaluate both goalkeepers during the closing stages of the preseason program to determine the opening-day lineup.
