The municipality of Bois-Joli has officially marked the completion of a major community revitalization project at the Léo-Lanteigne park, featuring a fully upgraded baseball field and a brand-new mini-golf facility, according to local municipal reporting.
Total Investment Reaches $301,000 for Bois-Joli Community Parks
The dual infrastructure project represents a total investment of approximately $301,000, according to figures shared by Bois-Joli Mayor Mario Pelletier. Funding for the park upgrades came through a combined effort involving municipal resources, provincial backing, and private corporate sponsorships.
Provincial support for the community initiative included a direct contribution of $122,000, according to Restigouche-Est MLA Guy Arseneault. Meanwhile, local businesses and private citizens stepped up to contribute roughly $126,000 toward the development costs, reflecting strong regional backing for the local recreation spaces.
Upgraded Baseball Facilities Serve the Wider Restigouche Region
The extensive overhaul of the park’s older baseball diamond touched nearly every part of the facility. According to local reporting, crews completed significant work on the outfield and infield, reinforced fences, rebuilt player dugouts, and updated on-site restrooms. Additional night lighting is also scheduled for installation soon.
Mayor Pelletier noted that the upgraded venue is designed to serve more than just the immediate municipality, welcoming youth leagues and teams from various communities across the broader Restigouche region.
New Wheelchair-Accessible Mini-Golf Opens to Families
Alongside the restored diamond, the municipality debuted a newly constructed mini-golf course valued at approximately $175,000. Municipal leaders designed the facility to accommodate families, seniors, and young players alike, incorporating wheelchair accessibility features to ensure everyone in the community can use the course.
Local officials view the completed projects as central to transforming the Léo-Lanteigne park into a primary gathering hub for Bois-Joli residents. Planning for future phases at the park is already underway, with local leadership eyeing potential additions such as a small community cinema space, a designated reading spot, and small cabins reserved for young local entrepreneurs.
