The Baja California state government inaugurated a new Archery Center of Excellence at the Tijuana High Performance Center (Centro de Alto Rendimiento Tijuana), establishing a specialized hub designed to strengthen the development of elite and youth archers targeting the Los Ángeles 2028 Olympic Games, according to official state announcements reported on August 29, 2026.

The sports facility was completed through a joint investment of 20 million pesos, drawing funding and cooperation from the Baja California state government, the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), World Archery México, and World Archery Americas. According to state reports, the funding supports technical, medical, and methodological accompaniment for athletes training at the site.
The facility features an upgraded specialized archery field outfitted with rehabilitated synthetic turf and modern lighting. Additional infrastructure includes an armory, a strength gym, an athlete clinic, offices, and sanitation facilities designed to host training camps, international gatherings, and official qualifying tournaments.

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda emphasized that Tijuana’s geographic proximity to California positions the city as an ideal preparation base for athletes aiming at the 2028 Summer Games. State officials noted that the complex will house athletes carrying Mexico’s colors in upcoming international competitions.
“Here we will train, refine, and strengthen the athletes who carry the colors of Mexico to the highest sports event on the planet. From Baja California, we will boost the Olympic dream of a generation of archers aiming directly for the podium,” Governor Avila Olmeda stated, as reported by regional media outlets.
Institutional Collaboration and Elite Coaching Integration
CONADE General Director Rommel Pacheco Marrufo stated that the project fulfills commitments made to support athletic development in Baja California by unifying a high-performance system under international coaches. According to sports officials, the standardized methodology aims to elevate local talent and boost the regional economy.
Roberto Beltrán Ramonetti, Director of High Level of Competition for the Baja California Sports Institute (INDEBC), noted that the facility consolidates institutional agreements established in May 2025 among the three levels of government alongside international sport bodies. State organizers also acknowledged the ongoing commitment of families supporting youth athletes during the inauguration ceremony, which included a ribbon-cutting, facility tours, and an exhibition by state team archers.
