According to club leadership, the event’s success rewarded months of behind-the-scenes preparation by members and volunteers who worked to bring a major national federation event to the department for the very first time.
Navigating Terrain and Foam Targets in 3D Competition
Unlike traditional target archery held on flat stadium ranges, 3D archery mimics realistic hunting scenarios across wooded and uneven terrain. Archers aim at lifelike, three-dimensional foam animal targets placed at unknown distances throughout a natural course. In the team competition format contested in Ardin, squads coordinate tactics, judge yardage under varying outdoor conditions, and combine their scores to determine national supremacy.
Hosting such a technical discipline requires extensive trail layout, safety management, and precise judging infrastructure.
