The 32nd Regata Juan de la Cosa and the 55th Semana Náutica de El Puerto de Santa María are set to bring a projected record fleet of nearly 50 boats and approximately 500 sailors to the waters of the Bay of Cádiz from August 20 to August 23, according to organizers at the Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María.

The official presentation for both fixtures took place on the terraces of the Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María, bringing together civic leaders, sports federation executives, and commercial sponsors. Santiago Villagrán, president of the hosting club, presided over the launch alongside club gerente Juan Castañeda.
According to event announcements, the opening ceremonies and arrivals will lead directly into four days of intense competition across the bay. Institutional speakers at the presentation included El Puerto de Santa María mayor and tourism deputy Germán Beardo, territorial delegate for culture, historical heritage, and sports Millán Alegre, and municipal sports councillor and Andalusian parliamentarian José Ignacio González Nieto.
Federation leadership was heavily represented by Francisco Coro, president of the Andalusian Sailing Federation and vice president of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation. Corporate backing was underscored by the presence of Antonio Pulido, president of the Cajasol Foundation, alongside representatives from regional partners including Señorío de Montanera, Viento Creativo, Caja Rural del Sur, Club de Golf Vistahermosa, and Puerto Sherry.

The 32nd Regata Juan de la Cosa honors the legendary navigator and cartographer native to El Puerto de Santa María who created the earliest known map depicting the American continent. The 55th Semana Náutica stands as Spain’s oldest high-level cruiser regatta, retaining its revered status as the “decana” (doyen) of the national calendar.
The four-day racing schedule is divided between the two trophies:
- August 20–21: The opening two days decide the winner of the 32nd Regata Juan de la Cosa, which serves as a qualifying event for the Andalusian Cruiser Championship (Circuit modality).
- August 20–23: The 55th Semana Náutica runs across all four days, culminating on Sunday, August 23, with the crowning of the victor for the 54th Cruiser Golden Catavino (Gran Catavino de Oro). This premier competition is point-scoring for both the Absolute Andalusian Cruiser Championship and the Spanish Cruiser Cup.
Both fleet titles and specific class awards will feature prominent silverware, including trophies backed by the Cajasol Foundation, Vistahermosa, and Caja Rural del Sur. Defending champion honors across the board rest with the yacht Brujo, owned by Federico Linares and sailing out of the Real Club Náutico de Cádiz, which seeks a repeat victory for the second year.
