Four Bercian archery clubs have advanced to the final phase of the Liga Nacional de Clubes de Tiro con Arco, according to official standings released by the Spanish Archery Federation (Federación de Esgrima y Tiro con Arco). The qualification marks a significant milestone for the region, with teams from León and Zamora securing spots in the national semifinals. The final stage, set for May 12-14 in Madrid, will feature 16 clubs competing across men’s, women’s, and mixed team events.
Which Bercian Teams Qualified?
The Club de Tiro Berciano, Arqueros de León, Tiro Zaragozano, and Equipo Zamorano advanced after securing top-three finishes in their regional qualifying groups. The Club de Tiro Berciano, based in the Bierzo region of León, topped its group with 28 points, while Arqueros de León finished second with 26 points. The Tiro Zaragozano, despite being a Zaragoza-based team, has strong ties to the Bierzo area through its coaching staff.
“This is a testament to the growth of archery in the Bierzo region,” said María López, a spokesperson for the Club de Tiro Berciano. “Our athletes have trained rigorously, and we’re ready to compete at the national level.”
How Did the Qualification Process Work?
The Liga Nacional de Clubes de Tiro con Arco operates on a regional qualification system, with teams earning points through a series of league matches. The Bercian teams excelled in the Comunidad de Castilla y León regional bracket, where they faced competitors from Madrid, Galicia, and Extremadura. Each team played 12 matches, with points awarded for wins, draws, and performance metrics.
According to Federación de Esgrima y Tiro con Arco records, the Club de Tiro Berciano won 10 of its 12 matches, while Arqueros de León secured eight victories. The Tiro Zaragozano and Equipo Zamorano both finished with 26 points, with the latter advancing due to a better head-to-head record.
What’s at Stake in the Final Phase?
The national semifinals will determine which four teams progress to the Final Four in June. The winner of the Liga Nacional de Clubes de Tiro con Arco will earn a spot in the International Archery Federation (IAF) Club Championships. Additionally, the top three teams will qualify for the Copa de España de Tiro con Arco, a prestigious national cup competition.
