Tlaxcala Wins Bronze Medal in Archery at National Olympics

Tlaxcala, Mexico – Eder Kenneth Vázquez Marcial of Tlaxcala earned a bronze medal in archery at the National Olympics, marking a successful start for the state’s delegation in the multi-sport competition. The event, held at the High-Performance Sports City, brought together over 700 athletes from across Mexico.

Vázquez Marcial’s achievement came in the recurve men’s under-16 division, shooting at a distance of 50 meters. He secured the bronze with a score of 324 points. The gold medal went to Diego Góngora Trujillo of Quintana Roo, who led with 339 points, while Jesús Ramos of Nuevo León took silver with 331 points.

The National Olympics serves as a crucial platform for emerging talent, providing a pathway to international competitions. Luis Eduardo Vélez, Secretary General of World Archery Mexico, highlighted the event’s importance, stating that it’s “the antechamber to international events.” He praised the competition’s positive start and acknowledged the development of sports infrastructure within Tlaxcala.

“The strategic location of Tlaxcala for states in central Mexico has been strengthened in terms of sports infrastructure, and this is demonstrated by the venue,” Vélez noted. “Whenever we arrive, we find a modern pavilion or the development of new facilities within the complex.”

While Vázquez Marcial’s bronze medal was the first for Tlaxcala at these games, other athletes from the state also demonstrated strong performances. Santiago Quintián finished fifth overall in the compound under-18 men’s division with 664 points. Diego Paredes placed 20th in the under-18 recurve men’s category, also scoring 664 points, and Steve Pichón ranked 31st with 517 points.

On the women’s side, Dafne Cuapio secured 28th place in the recurve under-16 women’s category with 268 points. Sofía Francisco finished 19th in the under-18 compound women’s division, registering a score of 314 points.

The High-Performance Sports City, the venue for the archery competition, has become a focal point for sports development in the region. The ongoing investment in infrastructure underscores Tlaxcala’s commitment to fostering athletic talent and hosting national and potentially international events.

This initial success for Tlaxcala at the National Olympics sets a positive tone for the remainder of the competition. The state’s athletes will continue to compete across various disciplines, aiming to add to their medal count and showcase their skills on a national stage.

The archery competition, as a whole, appears to be a strong indicator of the rising level of talent within Mexican sports. Vélez’s comments suggest a growing emphasis on developing young athletes and providing them with the resources needed to succeed.

Looking ahead, the focus will be on building upon this momentum and preparing athletes for future international challenges. The National Olympics provides a valuable opportunity to identify and nurture potential stars, and Tlaxcala’s performance thus far demonstrates the state’s dedication to this process.

The next updates from the National Olympics will be closely watched as athletes continue to compete and strive for victory. Fans can follow the progress of Tlaxcala’s athletes and the overall results of the games through official channels and sports news outlets.
