The Tamaulipas delegation has established a commanding presence at the start of the 2026 National Olympics (Olimpiada Nacional), securing a significant haul of medals in the archery competitions held in Apizaco, Tlaxcala. The state’s athletes delivered a strong opening-day performance, capturing a total of 15 medals across both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Leading the charge for the state was the women’s compound division, where the delegation’s precision and consistency translated into a diverse collection of podium finishes. The standout performance came from Valentina Torres Gómez, who secured the gold medal in the second distance of the Sub-16 female compound category.

Mariam Gómez proved to be a consistent force in the Sub-16 female category, earning two silver medals in the first distance and the general aggregate.

The surge in performance has been attributed to a concerted effort to support high-performance athletics within the state. Manuel Virués Lozano, the Director General of the Instituto del Deporte de Tamaulipas (INDE Tamaulipas), praised the athletes and their coaching staff for the results.

Virués Lozano noted that these achievements are a reflection of the ongoing support for high-performance sports provided by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and the Secretary of Social Welfare, Silvia Casas.
