Yamamato Manufacturing Co. Partners with Aizu Nishi-Ryō and Aizu Industrial High Schools to Support Basketball Programs in Fukushima

Yamawa Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based cutting tool manufacturer, has donated basketball equipment to two public high schools in Fukushima Prefecture, according to a report from the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.

The company, headquartered in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, presented the equipment to both Fukushima Prefectural Aizu West Ridge High School and Fukushima Prefectural Aizu Industrial High School.

Yamawa’s president, Watanabe Yoshikazu, oversaw the donation initiative, which aligns with the company’s ongoing community engagement efforts in the region where its Aizu Factory is located.

The Aizu Factory, situated in the Sakamoto Industrial Park of Aizubottom-machi in Kawanuma District, Fukushima Prefecture, employs approximately 160 workers and operates under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification standards.

Founded in 1923, Yamawa Manufacturing specializes in the production and distribution of threading tools (such as taps and dies) and hole-making tools (including center drills), with products exported globally.

The company maintains additional facilities in Fukushima City, Yonezawa City (including the Tsutsumi Factory), and Taiwan, supporting its integrated manufacturing and sales network.

Yamawa’s donation reflects its commitment to supporting youth sports development in local communities, particularly in regions where it maintains operational presence.

The equipment provided will be used by the schools’ basketball teams for training and competition, contributing to student athletic programs in the Aizu region.

This initiative continues Yamawa’s tradition of corporate social responsibility, which includes educational support and local infrastructure contributions alongside its core precision tool manufacturing business.

As of the latest available data, Yamawa Manufacturing reports consolidated capital of 295 million yen and employs 765 workers across its global operations.

The company remains led by President Watanabe Yoshikazu, who represents the second generation of family leadership following founder Watanabe Tokiji.
