Ventspils Wins 2026 Latvian Frisbee Cup

Ventspils secured both the men’s and women’s titles at the Latvian Cup 2026 ultimate frisbee championship, held April 16 at the Pārventa sports hall in Ventspils. The event served as the season-ending indoor tournament, determining which city would host the traveling cup for the following year.

In the men’s division, four teams competed: two squads from Ventspils, Salaspils “Wild Things,” and Ogres frisbee club. The tournament used a single-round format to decide the cup’s destination. Ventspils’ first team demonstrated dominant form, defeating Ogres 17:11 and Salaspils 17:13. The second Ventspils team narrowly lost to Salaspils 12:15 but later beat Ogres 15:13.

The final match featured both Ventspils teams. To claim the championship, Ventspils’ second team needed a significant point margin, but the first team’s athletes proved superior in an athletic and engaging contest, winning 17:14. The traveling cup remains in Ventspils for another year. Ventspils’ second team finished in third place.

The first Ventspils team also won the best game award in the men’s division. All three teams recorded an equal game score value of 11 points, but the award went to the higher-ranked team.

In the women’s division, three teams participated: Ogres “Moments,” Rīga “Hyperflick,” and Ventspils FK. Ventspils FK opened strongly, defeating Rīga’s team 17:7.

The Ventspils first team roster included: Ēriks Podgurskis, Marks Krebs, Edgars Būdiņš, Vitālijs Kuļešovs, Sergejs Semeško, Roberts Rozenfelds, Edmunds Semjonovs, Oļegs Gusevs, and Arsenijs Atorins.
