Italian Footballers Linked to Milan Escort Investigation as Probe Widens
Milan prosecutors allege a organized escort service recruited over 100 young women, many teenagers, using low-cost flights from Greece and Spain to supply clients in Italy’s football world, according to court documents reviewed by Italian media.
The investigation, led by the Guardia di Finanza, centers on Deborah Ronchi and Emanuele Buttini, operators of the Ma.De. Agency, who are currently under house arrest. Investigators allege the pair arranged flights and hotel accommodations for young women — some described as students supplementing their allowance — to meet with clients, including professional footballers.
Two Serie A players specifically named in intercepted communications are Rafael Leao of AC Milan and Riccardo Calafiori of Bologna. Both players have publicly denied any involvement.
“Non c’entriamo nulla con l’indagine sulle escort a Milano,” Leao and Calafiori stated in a joint message reported by Il Giorno, translating to “We have nothing to do with the escort investigation in Milan.”
The alleged operation reportedly flew in women from abroad on budget airlines, housed them in Milan hotels, and directed them to private events at venues such as Philippe Plein and Just, according to intercepted dialogue cited in the investigation.
Investigators say the network operated with a clear financial structure: clients paid premium fees for private tables, with up to 50% of revenue retained by the organization. While specific pricing details from the Giorno report mention expenditures tied to the operation, Archysport could not independently verify exact figures from official judicial sources at time of publication.
The case has drawn attention beyond legal circles due to its intersection with Milan’s nightlife, social media culture, and professional sports. Ronchi and Buttini maintained a visible online presence, frequently posting glamorous images that investigators say were used to attract both recruits and clients.
As of April 25, 2026, the judicial process remains ongoing. No formal charges have been publicly filed against Leao or Calafiori, and both players continue to train with their respective clubs. Archysport will monitor official court updates for any developments in the case.
