South American Games: Bahía Blanca Wins Two Archery Medals

Argentine Archery Duo Wins Bronze at South American Youth Games in Panama

Isabella Chorvat and Bianca González have brought two archery medals back to Bahía Blanca after securing bronze in the women’s recurve team event at the IV South American Youth Games in Panama City.

The duo stood on the podium Thursday, April 17, 2026, following Argentina’s strong showing in the archery competition that began April 14 at the Irving Saladino Sports City venue.

Chorvat, who lives in Bahía Blanca and represents the Palihue club, had already made history earlier in the competition by setting a new South American Youth Games record in the women’s recurve individual ranking round with a score of 632 points.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be here representing our country and, on top of that, to reach the podium,” Chorvat said after the medal ceremony, according to La Nueva.

The bronze medal came after the Argentine women’s recurve team advanced to the finals following the initial elimination rounds, which saw both the men’s and mixed recurve teams also qualify for their respective medal matches.

In the mixed team event, Chorvat partnered with Gabriel Tonina to deliver what La Nueva described as an “outstanding performance” in the opening stages of the competition, though the duo did not medal in that discipline.

González, who finished fifth in the individual ranking round with 611 points, teamed with Chorvat to secure the team bronze after advancing through the elimination brackets.

The Argentine archery delegation to Panama 2026 was finalized following selection trials conducted by the Argentine Archery Federation (FATARCO), with competition taking place from April 14-16 at the Irving Saladino Sports City field.

Archery remains one of six sports that have previously earned medals for Argentina at multi-sport events, with La Nueva noting that additional medals are expected in the coming days of competition.

The South American Youth Games continue through April 17, with archery events concluding on the final day of competition.
