IES La Orden Badminton Team Claims Eight Medals in Andalusian Competitions
BAENA & VILLANUEVA DE LA CONCEPCIÓN, Spain – The Recreativo IES La Orden badminton team delivered a strong performance this past weekend, securing a total of eight medals across two Andalusian tournaments. The team demonstrated its prowess at the Andalucía Top TTR Absoluto and Minibádminton event in Baena (Córdoba), and the Andalucía Top TTR Sub 15 and Sub 19 competition in Villanueva de la Concepción (Málaga).
The team’s success was built on strong individual performances across both events. In Baena, Iván Cumbreras emerged victorious in the Individual Men’s competition. He also secured a silver medal in the Doubles event alongside his brother, Juan Carlos, who added a bronze medal in the Individual competition to the team’s tally. Bernabé Padilla and Rafael Porcuna (of Granada) teamed up to claim the second spot on the podium in the Men’s Doubles.
The younger talent within the Recreativo IES La Orden program also shone at the Villanueva de la Concepción tournament. David Moreno captured gold in the Sub 19 Individual Men’s category and followed it up with a silver medal in the Mixed Doubles, partnering with Rocío Garcia from Alhaurín de la Torre. Pedro Marín earned a silver medal in the Sub 15 Individual Men’s event, while Celia Crespo and Ainhoa Pérez secured a bronze medal in the Sub 19 Women’s Doubles.
This double success underscores the strength of the Recreativo IES La Orden’s badminton program, which continues to develop competitive athletes at multiple age levels. The team’s performance highlights the growing prominence of badminton in the Huelva region and across Andalusia.
The Recreativo IES La Orden receives sponsorship from Huelva Deporte, Ayuntamiento de Huelva, Huelva Original, Fundación Unicaja, Diputación de Huelva, Junta de Andalucía, Aguas de Huelva, Hotel Martín Alonso Pinzón, Rótulos Vanda, Federación Andaluza de Bádminton and Conquero Autorenting and Papelería Enclave, with the collaboration of the Consejería de Cultura y Deporte.
The team’s consistent success is a testament to the dedication of its athletes and coaches, and the support of its sponsors. The Recreativo IES La Orden is clearly cultivating those qualities in its players.
Looking ahead, the team will undoubtedly be aiming to build on this momentum as they prepare for future competitions. The Andalusian tournaments served as valuable preparation and a confidence boost as they set their sights on even greater challenges. The continued development of its young players, like Moreno, Marín, Crespo, and Pérez, will be crucial to the team’s long-term success.
