Lugo Archers Compete in Second Round of Galician Outdoor Archery League in Redondela

On April 20, 2026, archers from the Escola Lucense de Tiro con Arco participated in the second round of the Galician Outdoor Archery League held at the Club Meigarco facilities in Redondela, Pontevedra. José Ángel Otero Martínez competed in the LongBow +50 men’s category, finishing fifth with 440 points. This represented a slight decrease from his sixth-place finish in the initial round, where he had scored 451 points.

Juan Andrés Casaleiro Piña participated in the Senior Recurve men’s division, placing fifteenth with 415 points. His score was lower than his thirteenth-place finish in the first round, where he had accumulated 482 points.

The competition highlighted ongoing challenges faced by the Lugo-based archery club regarding training facilities. According to club representatives, athletes continue to train without access to dedicated outdoor facilities, which complicates preparation for the outdoor season that constitutes approximately half of the annual archery calendar in Galicia.

Event organizers confirmed that Traditional and LongBow categories competed at 30 meters, with Traditional using 80cm targets and LongBow utilizing 122cm targets. Recurve athletes shot from 70 meters using standard-sized targets. These specifications aligned with the league’s established format for outdoor competitions during the 2025-2026 season.
