OC High School Baseball Roundup: San Clemente Sweeps Tesoro, Mater Dei Defeats Servite

San Clemente High School secured a sweep of Tesoro High School in South Coast League play with a 5-4 walk-off victory on Friday, April 17, 2026, while Mater Dei High School defeated Servite High School 5-1 in Trinity League action the same evening.

The San Clemente win came in the eighth inning when Joaquim Baumgardner delivered a walk-off single to seal the 5-4 triumph. Nick Cappello led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, finishing 2-for-2 with one RBI and two walks. Barrett Wood contributed two hits and one RBI, while Colin Dobbs pitched three scoreless innings in relief before Cassius Sisson closed out the eighth without allowing a run to earn the win.

For Tesoro, Aidan Nieto recorded two hits and one RBI and struck out six batters over four innings on the mound. Charlie Moraga added two hits and an RBI and Brandon Black had two hits. In another South Coast League game, Trabuco Hills defeated Dana Hills 5-2 in a series-clinching win. Everett Schweer homered, doubled, and drove in two runs for Trabuco Hills. Amedeo Miller added a double and one RBI and earned the save after pitching 3⅓ innings of relief with one run allowed. Skyler Sims allowed one run in 3⅔ innings with three strikeouts for Trabuco Hills, and Josh Fitch drove in a run. Dana Hills’ Gavin Giese threw a complete game with seven strikeouts, while Tyler Van Duyne tripled and drove in one run and Ryan Observe had two hits.

In Trinity League play, Mater Dei defeated Servite 5-1. Ezekiel Lara went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and Tristan Ramos was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Emilio Young added a single and one RBI. For Servite, John Sullivan was 2-for-3 with a home run. Mater Dei improved to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in league play, while Servite fell to 13-9 overall and 5-4 in league competition.

The results from Friday’s games shifted standings in both leagues, with San Clemente gaining ground in the South Coast League race and Mater Dei securing a key Trinity League win.
