Liberec, Czech Republic – April 18, 2026 – A tense, chance-starved encounter at Stadion u Nisy ended in a 0-0 draw between FC Slovan Liberec and FK Mladá Boleslav in the 30th round of the Czech Chance Liga, leaving both sides with mixed feelings as the season enters its final stretch.
The match, kicked off at 15:00 local time (13:00 UTC), saw Liberec enjoy the bulk of possession and create the clearer opportunities, yet neither side could break the deadlock in front of 4,812 spectators under overcast skies. The result leaves Liberec sitting in seventh place with 42 points, even as Boleslav remains eighth on 40 points, both clubs still mathematically alive for a European qualification spot but needing help from elsewhere.
“We dominated territorially and had the better chances, but football is about putting the ball in the net,” said Liberec head coach Jaroslav Veselý after the match. “We created enough to win this game, but we lacked the final touch. It’s frustrating, but we’ll accept the point and keep pushing.” Boleslav’s interim manager David Holoubek offered a more pragmatic take: “A point away from home against a team fighting for Europe isn’t bad. We defended well, and we’ll take it.”
The first real chance fell to Liberec in the 22nd minute when striker Tomáš Malinský latched onto a through ball from Jan Mikula, only to see his low drive saved comfortably by Boleslav goalkeeper Jan Štepník. Boleslav responded with a counterattack five minutes later, but Marek Čavoš’s effort from the edge of the box flew wide of the far post.
After the break, Liberec pressed harder. In the 61st minute, Mikula swung in a corner from the left that found the head of central defender Ondřej Kúdela, whose powerful header rattled the crossbar. Boleslav nearly snatched a winner in the 78th minute when substitute Lukáš Masopust cut inside from the right and fired a low shot that forced Liberec keeper Ondřej Kolář into a smart save to his left.
The final ten minutes saw both teams push for a winner, but neither could find the breakthrough. Liberec had a late penalty appeal waved away when Jakub Rezek appeared to be clipped in the box, while Boleslav’s Tomáš Ladra had a header cleared off the line in the 89th minute.
Statistically, Liberec held 58% possession and outshot Boleslav 14 to 8, with five shots on target compared to Boleslav’s three. However, the visitors defended compactly and frustrated the home side’s attempts to play through the middle, forcing Liberec into wide areas where their final delivery often lacked precision.
The draw has implications for the European race. With Sigma Olomouc winning earlier in the day to move into sixth place with 45 points, Liberec now trails the sixth and final Europa Conference League qualifier by three points with two games remaining. Boleslav, meanwhile, needs to win both of its final matches and hope for slips from the teams above them to have any realistic chance of reaching Europe.
Looking ahead, Liberec travels to face bottom-placed Příbram on April 25, while Boleslav hosts Jablonec on the same day. Both matches kick off at 15:00 local time.
