The 45-year-traditional Caillet was sentenced to six months of suspended imprisonment by the Béziers criminal court, stemming from accusations of violence against his former partner. “FC Grenoble Rugby took note of the conviction of Pierre Caillet, this Monday, March 30th, by the Béziers criminal court,” the club stated in a press release. “The facts reproached to Pierre Caillet are not in line with the values promoted by our club. As announced a few weeks ago, in the event of a conviction, Pierre Caillet will not be the coach of our club next season. FCG reiterates, by this decision, its willingness to put the values of our club above all sporting decisions.”

The court also handed down a €5,000 fine to Caillet’s ex-partner, with €3,000 suspended, after she was found guilty of her own charges.
The decision by FC Grenoble Rugby to distance itself from Caillet was foreshadowed by President Patrick Goffi, who previously indicated the club would await the outcome of the legal proceedings.
