The 2026 season of the FIBA Open 3×3 will launch on May 1 in Kunming, China, marking the start of a grassroots basketball circuit that spans over 100 stops across the country. Organizers announced the opening weekend will run from May 1 to 3 at the Haigeng Park area in Kunming, coinciding with China’s Labor Day holiday period known as “Golden Week.”
According to official announcements from the organizing committee on April 23, 2026, the event is hosted by FIBA’s regional office for China, with the Chinese Basketball Association serving as a supporting organization. The season’s format maintains the established progression system: city-level qualifiers lead to provincial competitions, followed by championship events and a national final.
This year’s edition expands the geographic footprint to include new regions in Hunan, Zhejiang, and Inner Mongolia, building upon existing hubs in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou, Shandong, Xinjiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Guangxi, and now Yunnan province where Kunming is located.
