Fenerbahçe Agree Deal for Vedat Muriqi as Barcelona Enters the Race

Fenerbahce has reached an agreement with Vedat Muriqi, with a pre-contract signed between the parties, according to multiple Turkish media reports. The development comes as the Turkish Super Lig club seeks to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.

The 31-year-old Kosovar striker, who currently plays for Mallorca in La Liga, has been the subject of transfer speculation linking him back to Fenerbahce, where he previously played from 2019 to 2020. During his time at the Istanbul club, Muriqi made 32 appearances and scored 17 goals.

Reports indicate that Fenerbahce has re-established contact with Mallorca regarding a potential transfer for Muriqi. The club is said to be determined to add the experienced striker to their squad, with the player expressing his desire to return to the club where he enjoyed a productive spell.

According to recent reports, Fenerbahce is expected to finalize the transfer for a fee of around €5-6 million. This comes after Muriqi has been in impressive form for Mallorca this season, making 29 appearances and contributing 19 goals and 1 assist in the current campaign.

Muriqi began his career with Liria Prizren before moving to Albania, where he played for Teuta Durrës and Besa Kavajë. He later continued his career in Turkey with Giresunspor, Gençlerbirliği and Çaykur Rizespor, gaining prominence for his goalscoring performances before joining Fenerbahce in 2019.

After his stint at Fenerbahce, Muriqi moved to Italian side Lazio in 2020. Following a successful loan spell at Mallorca in the 2022-23 season, he signed permanently with the Spanish club in 2022. Since then, he has made 123 appearances and scored 50 goals for Mallorca across all competitions.

On the international stage, Muriqi has represented Kosovo since 2016, earning 68 caps and scoring 32 goals, making him the country’s all-time top goalscorer. He initially represented Albania’s under-21 team before switching his allegiance to Kosovo.

The potential return to Fenerbahce would mark Muriqi’s second stint with the Istanbul club, where he aims to contribute to the team’s attacking prowess in the Turkish Super Lig and European competitions.

As of now, no official announcement has been made by either Fenerbahce or Mallorca regarding the transfer. Both clubs are expected to continue negotiations in the coming weeks as the summer transfer window approaches.

Fenerbahce fans have welcomed the news of a potential reunion with Muriqi, recalling his productive first spell at the club and hoping for a similar impact should the transfer materialize.

The development highlights Fenerbahce’s proactive approach in the transfer market as they look to bolster their squad for the challenges ahead in both domestic and European competitions.
