Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz has spoken openly about his future and ongoing relationship with Manuel Neuer, emphasizing his trust in divine guidance for his career path while maintaining strong ties with the German giants.
The 25-year-old Israeli international, currently on loan at Southampton in the EFL Championship, revealed in an interview with Sport BILD that he remains uncertain about his long-term future with Bayern Munich but is focused on his present performances.
“I don’t know yet. Right now, I’m enjoying playing every game,” Peretz explained. “Then we’ll see what the future holds. I have complete faith that God will lead me to the place that’s best for me. If that ends up being Bayern, I’d be incredibly happy. If not, then so be it. But no matter what happens – it will be for my good.”
Peretz, who joined Bayern Munich from Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023, has made four appearances for the Bundesliga side but has spent much of his time on loan, including spells at Bayern Munich II, Hamburger SV, and now Southampton.
Despite limited playing time at the Allianz Arena, Peretz stressed his enduring connection to the club and its legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, whom he described as “the best of all time.”
“I like the team; for me, they’re the best in the world. I really enjoy watching them play. Plus, I have friends there,” Peretz said. “I’m especially in contact with Manuel Neuer. He’s a great guy, very humble. From the very first second I was at Bayern, he helped me.”
The two goalkeepers maintain regular communication, with Peretz noting that Neuer often reaches out after matches to acknowledge strong performances.
“We’re in regular contact, we text each other after the games. He congratulates me on good performances,” Peretz added, highlighting that he has kept seven clean sheets in 18 Championship appearances for Southampton during the 2025–2026 season.
Peretz, born on July 10, 2000, in Tel Aviv, holds Israeli nationality and also possesses EU citizenship through a German passport due to his Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. He has represented Israel at various youth levels and earned 11 senior caps for the national team as of March 2026.
His loan move to Southampton began in 2026, where he wears the number 41 jersey and has become a regular starter under the club’s management, contributing to the team’s push for promotion to the Premier League.
While Peretz acknowledges the uncertainty surrounding his future, he remains committed to performing at his highest level wherever he plays, guided by his faith and professional ambition.
The goalkeeper’s relationship with Neuer exemplifies the mentorship culture within Bayern Munich’s goalkeeping department, where experienced players support younger talents even during loan spells.
As the EFL Championship season progresses, Peretz’s form will continue to be monitored by both Southampton and Bayern Munich, with his next appearance scheduled for the club’s upcoming league fixture.
