European Archery Champion Michea Godano Honored in Fossano

Italian compound archer Michea Godano was received at Fossano town hall on March 10, 2026, following his double gold medal performance at the European Indoor Archery Championships in Bulgaria.

The mayor of Fossano, Dario Tallone, and sports assessor Danilo Toti greeted Godano at the municipal offices, accompanied by provincial Guardia di Finanza commander Colonel Andrea Alba and Fossano Tenente commander Carmine Vitrani.

Godano, representing the Fiamme Oro sports group, secured both the individual compound title and the mixed team gold alongside Elisa Roner at the February 2026 championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

“We wanted above all to thank Michea for carrying our city’s name high in Europe,” Tallone and Toti stated during the ceremony.

The officials also acknowledged the military sports groups, noting how organizations like Fiamme Oro enable young athletes to transform passion into profession.

“A passion that began almost by chance: after an afternoon in the park with my friends, I asked my brother to create me arrows, and from there I never stopped,” Godano recalled.

He added that he initially practiced only on silhouette targets before transitioning to compound archery and finding support through the Fiamme Gialle, whom he thanked for believing in his potential.

Godano’s recognition in Fossano follows his consistent presence in international rankings, having previously been honored as a top-10 world-ranked athlete in the sport.

The town’s celebration highlights Fossano’s growing reputation as a nurturing ground for elite archery talent, supported by local institutions and national military sports programs.

As of March 2026, Godano continues to train with the Fiamme Oro ahead of the upcoming outdoor season, with no major international competitions immediately scheduled following the indoor European success.

Archers and fans worldwide can follow developments in compound archery through World Archery’s official tournament calendar and athlete profiles.
