SANTO DOMINGO — The Dominican Republic’s senior archery team is competing in the Grand Prix de las Américas in El Salvador as part of its preparation for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, which will be hosted in Santo Domingo.
The team departed for El Salvador ahead of the competition, which began in mid-April 2026, according to José Miguel Robiou, president of the Federación Dominicana de Tiro con Arco (Fedota). The delegation will remain in El Salvador through April 19, 2026, as confirmed by Robiou prior to their departure.
Before traveling to El Salvador, the archers participated in the Copa Mella de Arquería in Santiago, competing across all categories. This event served as a final tune-up before the international competition.
The Dominican delegation includes athletes from both the compound and recurve bow disciplines. In compound archery, the team features París Goicoechea De Lara, Rubén Jiménez Mustafá, Mario Berges Chez, Lucía Cordero Mateo, Carmen Espinal Encarnación and Ysmarlin Ramos Paulino.
For the recurve bow category, the athletes in preparation are Luis Miguel Jáquez Valdez, Reynaldo Zorrilla Basilio, Eric Fatule Báez, Camila Pérez Vizcaíno, Santa Ortiz Carty, and Cynthia González Bencosme.
The athletes are supported by coaches Manuel Bartumeu Gómez and Enrique Barcón Quiñones. Officials accompanying the team include José Miguel Robiou, María Del Pilar Souza, and psychologist Rafael Almonte Matías.
