Baseball Highlights: Canada U18 Live Game – April 20, 2026 | RDS EP.10 | MLB, NBA, WNBA Updates

Canada’s Junior National Team (U18) is set to begin a six-game series against MLB Draft League opponents starting June 10, 2026, as part of a partnership between Baseball Canada and the league. The series opens in Frederick, Maryland, with three games against the Frederick Keys before moving to Morgantown, West Virginia for the final three contests against the State College Spikes and West Virginia Black Bears.

The Canadian 18U Junior National Team features top high school talent from across the country and will use the series as preparation for upcoming international competitions. According to the MLB Draft League preview, the team has already contributed to the league’s development pipeline, with 12 alumni having participated over the first four seasons.

In Frederick, the rotation opens June 10 with Sean Duncan (Vanderbilt) starting for Canada against the Frederick Keys. June 11 features Shane Brinham (Michigan) versus the State College Spikes, and June 12 concludes the Frederick leg with William Labonte (Portland) taking the mound for a second matchup against the Keys.

The series shifts to Morgantown on June 13, where Mathis McKenna (Rutgers) starts for Canada against the West Virginia Black Bears. June 14 brings a rematch with the State College Spikes, with Sean Duncan (Vanderbilt) returning to the rotation. The final game on June 15 sees Shane Brinham (Michigan) start against the West Virginia Black Bears.

Position player Tim Piasentin, a Miami commit and left-handed hitter from British Columbia, is highlighted as a key offensive threat for Canada. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 215 pounds, Piasentin has risen to No. 154 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 200 Draft Prospects list due to his pull-side power and strong spring performance.

The U18 team operates under Baseball Canada’s Junior National Team program, which competes internationally in events such as the U-18 Baseball World Cup. The team most recently participated in an extended spring training camp, with roster announcements made prior to the camp’s commencement.

Baseball Canada continues to partner with Under Armour as the official uniform and apparel supplier for all national teams, providing moisture-wicking garments designed for athletic performance. The organization also maintains its Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework, which guides training and competition strategies across age groups to maximize athlete potential.

Internationally, the Canada national under-18 baseball team is currently ranked 19th in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) as of March 26, 2026. The team represents Canada in Pan American Baseball Confederation competitions and has won the U-18 Baseball World Cup once in its history, with the victory coming in 1991.

This series against MLB Draft League clubs provides valuable game experience against collegiate summer talent, helping bridge the gap between high school and higher levels of competition. The games will be played at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick and Monongalia County Ballpark in Morgantown, standard venues for the respective MLB Draft League franchises.

As the 2026 season progresses, the Junior National Team will continue its preparation schedule, with further updates expected from Baseball Canada regarding upcoming events and player development initiatives. Fans can follow the team’s progress through official Baseball Canada channels and affiliated media partners.
