The Baltimore Ravens have revealed their most significant uniform overhaul in nearly three decades, introducing “The Next Flight” collection ahead of the 2026 NFL season. The unveiling took place at a special event for season-ticket holders at Merriweather Post Pavilion on April 16, 2026, marking the first major redesign since 1999.
After 30 seasons with their core look, the Ravens embarked on a three-year process to evolve their identity while honoring their heritage. The recent collection features two new helmet designs, a color-shifting “Midnight Purple” fabric, and updated detailing across jerseys and pants that incorporates elements from the team’s original 1996 logo set.
The centerpiece of the release is the matte black “Darkness Helmet,” which features black talon stripes and a two-toned front-facing Ravens logo with piercing red eyes. This design mirrors the logo seen above the player tunnel at M&T Bank Stadium during introductions. The Ravens also updated their “Purple Rising” helmet, first introduced in 2024, replacing its front-facing logo with the primary Ravens logo to allow for more uniform combinations.
“We wanted that one kind of wow factor that’s really turned out to be that black helmet for the darkness uniform,” said Brad Downs, the Ravens’ senior vice president of marketing. “That’s really turned out to be a hero for the people who really wanted to spot us develop a more drastic change.”
The “Midnight Purple” color-shifting material emulates the iridescence of a raven’s feathers, appearing purple in light and revealing darkness as it fades. This effect is applied to jersey numbers as a stroke, appears in shield patches on sleeves, features on the back collar of three jerseys, and runs along talon stripes across all pant varieties.
Collar detailing now includes a pattern depicting a raven’s wings spread wide in a threat display, signaling aggression and dominance while alluding to feather features from the team’s original 1996 logo. The pants design imitates sharpened raven claws with a diagonal cut representing the Calvert crest found in both the Baltimore and Maryland flags.
A notable change sees “Baltimore” now appearing on the front of white jerseys—typically worn on road games—while the word “Ravens” remains on the back collar of those same jerseys. For purple, black, and Purple Rising jerseys, the back collar includes the “Baltimore” name, with the team name remaining a mainstay across the front of home jerseys.
The Ravens confirmed that regardless of which jersey combination is worn, the team will now showcase the city name they’ve represented since relocating to Baltimore in 1996. The text on purple, white, and black jerseys sits atop the Midnight Purple iridescent material.
Over 6,000 season-ticket holders attended the unveiling event, which the team described as the biggest change to their on-field look in 27 years. The redesign process began in 2023, with the alternate purple uniforms first receiving the “Purple Rising” designation in 2024.
The new uniforms will be worn starting in the 2026 NFL preseason, with the regular season set to begin in early September. Specific game assignments for each uniform combination have not yet been announced by the team.
As the Ravens prepare for the upcoming season, the uniform evolution reflects both a nod to their history and a forward-looking approach to their visual identity. The changes maintain core elements of the franchise’s signature look while introducing innovative details that respond to fan feedback gathered during the multi-year development process.
