Club Tiro con Arco Ponferrada Claims 8 Medals at Bembibre Social Tirada
Nineteen archers from the Club Tiro con Arco Ponferrada traveled to Bembibre on Sunday, April 19, 2026, to compete in the 3rd Social Tirada organized by Club Susarros, returning with eight medals across five different disciplines.
The event, held without elimination rounds, determined final standings based on performance in two classification series. All categories were mixed, meaning male and female archers competed together in each division.
In the recurve bow category, Izan Rodríguez Otero earned the gold medal, Daniel Rodríguez Beneitez took silver, and Cristina Fernández González secured bronze. The compound bow division saw Arcadio Alonso Lecuona win gold and Jesus Villadangos García claim silver. Erik Merayo Ovalle was victorious in the junior compound bow category.
Additional medals came in the barebow and longbow disciplines, with Javier Balboa Blanco earning silver in barebow and Celso García-Ciaño Antuña taking silver in longbow.
Club officials expressed gratitude to the Ponferrada City Council, its sports department, and the University of León for their support in facilitating the team’s participation.
The results highlight the Ponferrada club’s strength across multiple archery disciplines, with medals distributed among both experienced and junior competitors. The social tirada format emphasized participation and classification over knockout competition, allowing archers to gauge their performance in a supportive environment.
As the archery season progresses, the Club Tiro con Arco Ponferrada will look to build on this performance in upcoming regional and national events. The club continues to promote the sport in the Bierzo region through regular training and competition participation.
