Young Judokas Shine at Joinville & Suippes Competitions | Local Judo News

The young athletes of the MJC d’Ancerville judo section experienced a successful outing on March 21st, participating in competitions held at the Fair-Play complex in Joinville. Several athletes distinguished themselves, showcasing dedication and skill in the regional events.

Mini-Poussins Excel in Second Evaluation

Capucine Ferry, Martin Job, and Ambre Thirion were among 68 mini-poussins (born in 2018 and 2019) competing from across northern Haute-Marne. This event marked their second evaluation, following an initial assessment in December. The young judokas successfully completed a series of workshops covering essential skills – including backward falls, standing and ground techniques, randori practice, belt tying, and judo terminology – earning them diplomas and the coveted medals. This is a significant step in their development within the sport, building a foundation of technique and understanding.

Dense Competition for Poussins

A total of 72 poussins (born in 2016 and 2017) then took to the mats for the second round of the “Samouraïs” competition. The program included forward, backward, and lateral falls, demonstrations of static and dynamic techniques, immobilization techniques, randori, knowledge of terminology and refereeing gestures, and adherence to the judo code of conduct. Each element was scored, with athletes aiming to accumulate a maximum of 150 points. Jules David, Gabriel Roudaire, Malo Toussaint, Ayden Guérin-Méranger (2017), Mia Pierre, Emie Saussure, and Théo Wanner (2016) all performed well. These athletes will travel to Nogent on June 6th to receive their medals, based on their accumulated points from the first and second rounds, as well as the final competition. The scoring system emphasizes consistent performance and rewards dedication throughout the qualifying stages.

Aubriot Claims Victory at Suippes

Doriann Aubriot achieved a standout result at the benjamins criterion in Suippes (Marne), securing first place on the podium. This victory qualifies him for the regional phase, scheduled for April 11th in Pont-à-Mousson (Meurthe et Moselle). Aubriot’s success demonstrates the strength of the MJC d’Ancerville’s training program and the potential of its athletes at the regional level. This is a crucial step in his competitive journey, offering an opportunity to test his skills against a wider field of opponents.

The success of these young judokas is attributed to their dedication and the quality of coaching provided by Marie-Christine Monnin. Monnin congratulated the athletes on their hard work, but also emphasized the importance of continued effort, stating, “Bravo to all for your work, but do not rest on your laurels.” Her guidance and encouragement are clearly instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the club.

The MJC d’Ancerville judo club’s recent performances highlight the growing strength of the program and the dedication of its athletes and coaches. The club’s commitment to developing young talent is evident in the success of its members at both local and regional competitions. For those unfamiliar with judo, it’s a modern martial art and combat sport created in Japan, emphasizing throws, holds, joint locks, and pressure point techniques. It’s a discipline that promotes not only physical fitness but also respect, discipline, and self-confidence.

Looking ahead, Doriann Aubriot will be the first to compete at the regional level on April 11th in Pont-à-Mousson. The other athletes will continue to train and prepare for the medal ceremony in Nogent on June 6th. The MJC d’Ancerville judo club will undoubtedly be a force to watch in the upcoming regional competitions.
