WOLFSBURG, Germany – The city of Wolfsburg celebrated its young athletic talent on Thursday evening, recognizing 31 individual athletes and four teams for achievements spanning a variety of sports. The ceremony, held at the Treffpunkt am Markt in Westhagen, honored successes at the regional, national, and international levels.
The annual event underscores Wolfsburg’s commitment to fostering youth sports development. From judo and track and field to rowing, the honored athletes demonstrated dedication and discipline in their respective fields. Weilmann, alongside Robin Scheil, Chairman of the Sports Committee, and Ralf Mühlisch, Deputy Chairman, personally presented the awards and congratulated the young athletes. Axel Piepers, Head of the Sports Department of the City of Wolfsburg, served as the master of ceremonies.
Piepers emphasized the breadth of athletic achievement within the city. “The diversity of the outstanding performances underscores the strength and width of sports in Wolfsburg. Our young talents impressively demonstrate the potential they possess. The award should not only give them recognition but also motivation to continue their athletic path with commitment and joy.”
The Treffpunkt am Markt, a venue frequently used for community events, provided a fitting backdrop for the celebration. Located in Westhagen, the venue is also home to an Ausbildungsrestaurant – a training restaurant – operated by n@work, a service provider associated with the city of Wolfsburg’s WBG group.
