DALLAS – The Golden State Warriors secured a hard-fought 137-131 overtime victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, but the win was overshadowed by a devastating injury to guard Moses Moody. The 23-year-old suffered a non-contact left knee injury late in the extra period, requiring him to be stretchered off the court at American Airlines Center.
The incident occurred with 1:13 remaining in overtime. Moody stole the ball from Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg and drove towards the basket for what appeared to be an uncontested dunk. However, as he planted his left leg, his knee buckled, sending him crashing to the floor. Play continued briefly before officials stopped the game to attend to Moody.
Medical personnel quickly surrounded Moody, and after several minutes, a stretcher was brought onto the court. The Warriors guard received an encouraging hug from teammate Draymond Green before being wheeled off, with Stephen Curry visibly concerned on the bench.
“We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the game, as reported by ESPN. “Just hoping for the best.”
The Warriors confirmed that Moody will travel back to the Bay Area with the team on Tuesday and undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury. The severity of the injury is currently unknown, but initial observations suggest it is serious.

Prior to the injury, Moody was having a standout performance, leading the Warriors with 23 points and three steals in 34 minutes of play. “Mo is such a great human being,” Kerr added. “Great teammate. Wonderful guy to coach. Just puts in the work every day and was brilliant (tonight), by the way.”

This latest injury adds to a growing list of health concerns for the Warriors. Jimmy Butler III suffered a season-ending right ACL tear on January 19th. Stephen Curry has also been dealing with ongoing issues with his right knee, and was listed on the injury report leading up to Monday’s game.
