Toulouse, France – In a landmark initiative aimed at promoting inclusivity within French football, Toulouse FC will host Lorient this Saturday at the Stadium de Toulouse in what’s being billed as the “most inclusive match” in Ligue 1 history. The match, part of the 27th round of fixtures, isn’t just about three points; it’s a powerful statement about accessibility and belonging in the sport.
The event, a collaboration between Toulouse FC, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), World Football Summit, and Integrated Dreams, will welcome 200 individuals with disabilities, showcasing the club’s commitment to making the stadium a welcoming space for all fans. This initiative builds upon successful inclusion events previously held in Spain by clubs like Betis Seville, Atlético Madrid, and Real Sociedad, making Toulouse FC the first French club to undertake such a comprehensive effort.
“Inclusion is deeply rooted in the club’s identity and commitments within our overall CSR policy,” stated Cindy Johnson-Tufi, President of the Toulouse FC Foundation. “The club has been working for years to make the stadium a place open to everyone.”
Beyond the symbolic gesture of inviting fans with disabilities, Toulouse FC has implemented several practical measures to enhance accessibility. These include an accessible shuttle service, audiodescription services for visually impaired fans, visual aids, and dedicated spaces designed to accommodate individuals with sensory sensitivities and autism. For fans unfamiliar with these accommodations, audiodescription provides a verbal narration of the visual elements of the game, even as sensory spaces offer a quieter, less stimulating environment.
The area surrounding the Stadium de Toulouse will be transformed into a dedicated awareness space for supporters. Several associations will be present, offering interactive experiences and educational opportunities related to disability. Fans can endeavor cécifoot (football for the blind) with Toulouse Football Cécifoot, experience rugby wheelchair with Stade toulousain Handisport, and participate in inclusive discussions and activities.
Perhaps the most visible symbol of the day’s commitment to inclusion will be the specially designed jerseys worn by players from both teams. Instead of displaying players’ names, the shirts will feature seven pictograms representing different types of disabilities – visual, cognitive, auditory, mental, debilitating illnesses, motor, and psychological. This isn’t merely a cosmetic change; it’s a powerful visual representation of solidarity and a commitment to visibility for people with disabilities, echoing similar initiatives aimed at increasing inclusivity in sports venues like the Parc des Princes in Paris.
The pre-match ceremony will further emphasize the inclusive spirit of the event. Players from both sides will enter the pitch accompanied by children with and without disabilities, embodying the message of unity and togetherness. The ceremonial kickoff will be performed by Mayane El Baze, an actress known for her role in the film Un p’tit truc en plus, and Lucas Mazur, a Paralympic badminton champion and gold medalist at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
This “most inclusive match” isn’t a one-off event, but rather a continuation of Toulouse FC’s broader efforts to create a more welcoming and accessible environment for all fans. The club’s commitment extends beyond game days, with ongoing initiatives focused on improving stadium infrastructure and providing training for staff on disability awareness and inclusion best practices. The LFP’s involvement signals a potential league-wide push for greater accessibility, building on the momentum generated by Toulouse FC’s pioneering perform.
The match between Toulouse FC and Lorient is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Stadium de Toulouse. Fans attending the match are encouraged to arrive early to experience the awareness activities and learn more about the club’s inclusivity initiatives. The game is also being broadcast by FC Lorient.
Following this weekend’s fixture, Toulouse FC will travel to Paris to face Paris Saint-Germain on April 3, 2026, and will then host LOSC at the Stadium de Toulouse on April 15, 2026. The club continues to emphasize its dedication to creating a positive and inclusive experience for all supporters, both at home and on the road.
