Jakarta – The Indonesia national team began preparations for the upcoming FIFA Series 2026 with a training session at Stadion Madya in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon. However, only 15 players were present for the initial workout, including the returning Elkan Baggott.
The team is gearing up for the FIFA Series 2026, and Tuesday’s session marked the start of their training camp. According to reports, the attendance was limited, with a majority of players from domestic leagues participating. The squad consisted of 10 local players and five players currently playing abroad.
Five Overseas Players Present
Alongside Baggott, Ole Romeny, Maarten Paes, Sandy Walsh, and Ramadhan Sananta were among the overseas-based players who joined the training session. However, nine other players based abroad are yet to arrive, including Kevin Diks and Calvin Verdonk. This is understandable, as several players are still fulfilling their commitments with their respective clubs before joining the national team.
Phased Player Arrivals
According to BTN (Badan Tim Nasional) Chairman Sumardji, players are expected to arrive in stages on March 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. Some players may have already arrived in Jakarta but haven’t yet joined the training sessions.
FIFA Series Schedule
Indonesia is scheduled to face Saint Kitts and Nevis at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on March 27th. Following that, the Garuda squad will play against the winner of the Bulgaria versus Solomon Islands match on March 30th.

The return of Elkan Baggott to the national team setup is a significant boost for coach John Herdman. Baggott last featured for Indonesia in January 2023 during a match against Australia in the Asian Cup. His presence adds depth and experience to the defensive line as Indonesia prepares for these key FIFA Series matches.
The upcoming matches against Saint Kitts and Nevis and either Bulgaria or Solomon Islands provide a valuable opportunity for Indonesia to test their squad and build momentum ahead of future competitions. The phased arrival of players means the coaching staff will have to carefully manage the integration of the overseas-based contingent into the team dynamic.
Fans will be eager to see Baggott back in action and witness how the team performs with a blend of domestic and international talent. The matches at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium are expected to draw significant crowds, as Indonesian football supporters rally behind their national team.
The team will continue their training sessions in the coming days as more players arrive, aiming to build cohesion and tactical understanding before their first match against Saint Kitts and Nevis on March 27th. The focus will be on preparing a competitive squad capable of achieving positive results in the FIFA Series 2026.
Next Up: Indonesia will continue training at Stadion Madya as they await the arrival of the remaining players. The first match of the FIFA Series against Saint Kitts and Nevis is scheduled for March 27th at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.
