OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their impressive form, securing their eighth consecutive victory with a 116-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. The win solidifies the Thunder’s position atop the Western Conference, fueled by a balanced attack and the continued brilliance of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Gilgeous-Alexander Extends Scoring Streak
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning MVP candidate, contributed 20 points and 10 assists in the victory. More notably, he extended his remarkable streak of games with at least 20 points to 128, narrowly avoiding a potential end to the run. Facing a tough Timberwolves defense, Gilgeous-Alexander struggled to find his rhythm early, entering the fourth quarter with just 10 points. He re-entered the game with 7:10 remaining and ultimately secured his 19th point on a stepback jumper and foul against Anthony Edwards with 1:46 left, calmly sinking the free throw to maintain the streak. The crowd responded with chants of “M-V-P!” as he extended his lead over Wilt Chamberlain’s previous record of 126 consecutive 20-point games.
“Yeah, I didn’t care about anything besides winning the game as usual,” Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters after the game. “The game tonight was so junky, low scoring. They’re obviously a good defense, we’re a good defense, so it’s no surprise. To me those type of things have never mattered. It’s just always about walking out of here with a W. If I have a night like I had tonight and we win the way we win tonight for the rest of the season I’ll be the happiest guy on earth. The winning is all that matters.”

While Gilgeous-Alexander’s streak grabbed headlines, the Thunder’s victory was a team effort. Chet Holmgren added 21 points and nine rebounds, while Isaiah Joe chipped in with 20 points. Timberwolves Struggle with Turnovers
