Slavia Leads Fortuna Liga in Player Value: Transfermarkt Update & Key Players

Slavia Leads the Way in Czech Liga Value as Player Prices Surge

Prague – As the Czech Fortuna Liga season progresses, a recent valuation of team squads reveals a widening gap in financial strength, with Slavia Prague comfortably leading the pack. The club from Eden boasts a total squad value of €102.40 million, becoming the only team in the league to surpass the €100 million mark. This valuation underscores Slavia’s dominance, not just on the pitch, but also in terms of player assets.

The financial disparity doesn’t end there. Sparta Prague sits in second place with a squad value of €82.80 million, a significant €20 million behind their rivals. Viktoria Plzeň follows in third at €52.18 million, while Olomouc rounds out the top four with €29.93 million. The difference between the Prague giants and the rest of the league is stark, highlighting the investment and success enjoyed by Slavia and Sparta. At the other end of the spectrum, Zlín currently holds the lowest squad value at €5.95 million, followed closely by Bohemka, Slovácko, and Dukla.

Average Player Value Reflects the Divide

The gap in overall squad value is mirrored in the average market value of players. Only three clubs – Slavia, Sparta, and Plzeň – have an average player value exceeding €1 million. What we have is a notable contrast to top-five European leagues, where even the teams at the bottom of the table typically boast higher average player valuations. For example, 1. FC Heidenheim 1846, the last-placed team in the German Bundesliga, has an average player value of €2.21 million, with a total squad value of €64.05 million – exceeding that of the third-most valuable team in the Czech Fortuna Liga, Plzeň.

Vydra and Chaloupek Spot Values Rise, Attracting Interest

Looking at individual players, Sparta’s Patrik Vydra and Albion Rrahmani are currently the most valuable players in their squad, both assessed at €7 million. Vydra’s recent strong form and importance to the team have propelled him to the top, and speculation is mounting about potential offers from abroad during the next transfer window. Slavia, however, boasts four players with higher valuations: Moses at €9 million, and Lukáš Provod, Michal Sadílek, and Štěpán Chaloupek, all valued at €8 million. Chaloupek, like Vydra, has seen his value increase significantly due to his impressive performances, and Slavia may face a challenge in retaining him should attractive offers materialize.

Dorley and Ogbu’s Values Decline

Conversely, some players at Slavia have seen their values decrease. Oscar Dorley and Igoh Ogbu are experiencing a dip in valuation, potentially due to inconsistent form and injuries. Both players may be seeking new opportunities at the end of the season. The decline of Ogbu is particularly noteworthy, given his contract extension last season, but injuries have hampered his progress, allowing Chaloupek to surpass him in value.

The valuation of Tomáš Chorý, currently at €3 million, is also of interest. While his age (31) is a factor, he is valued below Muhammed Cham, who has yet to fully establish himself in the Slavia lineup, though Cham’s value is trending downwards.

Lowest Valued Players at Slavia and Sparta

At Slavia, players with the lowest valuations include Jan Bořil (€200,000), Erik Prekop (€750,000), and Ivan Schranz (€750,000), despite Schranz’s regular appearances in the starting lineup. Sparta’s lowest-valued players are primarily reserve team members Ivan Mensah and Daniel Kerl. Elias Cobbaut, currently sidelined by injury, is also valued relatively low, reflecting his disappointing performance since joining the club. Jaroslav Zelený, Sparta’s only current senior national team player, along with Kuol and Surovčík, also fall below the €1 million mark.

Sochůrek Rising, Vindahl Falling

A bright spot for Sparta is the rising value of young talent Hugo Sochůrek, who has impressed in limited appearances for the first team. His performances have demonstrated the value of developing and promoting young players. However, the valuation of Sparta’s goalkeeper Peter Vindahl has decreased to just €2.5 million, reflecting his recent struggles and the overall situation surrounding his position.

Goalkeepers Highly Valued in Olomouc and Baník

Looking at other clubs, Lukáš Červ is Plzeň’s most valuable player at €6 million. Interestingly, Jiří Panoš is valued at only €1.8 million, despite his significant potential. In Olomouc, goalkeeper Jan Koutný is the most valuable player at €4 million, consistently saving points for his team. Baník Ostrava also places a high value on their goalkeepers, with Ondřej Kričfaluši (€4 million) and Martin Jedlička being key assets. Zlín’s Stanley Kanu leads their squad at €500,000, while this season’s standout performer, Michal Cupák, is valued at €350,000, a figure likely to be significantly underestimated by potential suitors.

These valuations offer a snapshot of the financial landscape within the Czech Fortuna Liga, highlighting the dominance of Slavia Prague and the growing importance of player value in a competitive market. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how these valuations evolve and what impact they have on future transfer activity.
