Sinner Continues Zverev Domination, Reaches Miami Open Final
MIAMI GARDENS, Florida (AP) — Jannik Sinner is one step closer to a historic “Sunshine Double” after defeating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) in the Miami Open semifinals Friday night. The victory sets up a final showdown with Jiri Lehecka on Sunday.

Sinner, the world No. 2, was coming off a victory at Indian Wells earlier this month and is now aiming to become the first man to win both Indian Wells and Miami in the same year – the “Sunshine Double” – since Roger Federer in 2017. He has now won 32 consecutive sets at ATP Masters 1000 events.
“Coming here, trying to produce some decent tennis, that was my main goal,” Sinner said. “Standing here again, in the final, means very, very much to me.”
The Italian fired 15 aces during the match and has now won seven straight meetings against Zverev, including a semifinal victory over the German at the BNP Paribas Open earlier in March. Sinner now leads their head-to-head series 8-4.
Sunday’s final will see Sinner face Jiri Lehecka, who earlier defeated Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-2 to reach his maiden Masters 1000 final. Lehecka’s dominant performance secured his place in the championship match.
“Today has been a tough encounter,” Sinner said. “He played some incredible tennis, so I was serving very well especially in the crucial moments. I am very happy and it means a lot to me.”
