Romilly-sur-Seine Archers Find Success on Regional and National Stages
The archery club in Romilly-sur-Seine is celebrating a successful season, with several of its athletes achieving notable results in regional and national competitions. Léo Lefort and Céline Bercher, both trained at RS 10 tir à l’arc, have been particularly prominent, consistently reaching the podium.
Céline Bercher’s recent achievements have been especially impressive. On January 13, 2024, at the FITA Salle competition in Bar-sur-Aube, Bercher established a latest French record in the 2x25m event, scoring 572 points. This record has since been officially ratified by the French Archery Federation (FFTA), and Bercher received a diploma recognizing her accomplishment. She joined the Archers de Dreveil club to bolster their women’s compound team, aiming for a return to the D1 league.
Bercher’s archery journey began in 1992 at Romilly-sur-Seine, near Troyes. After a period in the youth categories, she took a break from the sport before returning in 2014. Initially competing in the classic bow discipline, she transitioned to compound archery in 2018, a move that proved highly successful.
Her palmarès includes a silver medal at the 2019 Coupe de France TAEDI in Coutances, the 2021 French TAEDN (Federal) Championship in Riom, and a runner-up finish at the 2022 Beursault competition. Most recently, she secured the 2023 French S2FCO Indoor Championship title in Grenoble. Bercher is currently performing at a high level in the S2 category, ranking fourth nationally in TAEDI (2023, with a personal best of 673 points) and third in the 18m event (personal best of 576 points). She recently won the regional championship and will defend her title in Mouilleron-le-Captif in early March.
The success of Bercher and Lefort contributes to a strong tradition of achievement for the club. Last year, the club’s archers collectively won 13 medals at the French Championships, bringing the total to 199 medals overall. The club clearly hopes Bercher will add to this impressive tally this season.
Bercher too operates Ten Archery, a shop in Romilly-sur-Seine, where she welcomes fellow archers.
The club’s continued success highlights the dedication of its athletes and coaches, and the growing popularity of archery in the Aube department and beyond. Fans can follow the archers’ progress as they compete in upcoming events, including Bercher’s defense of her title at Mouilleron-le-Captif.
