The move, finalized during the international break, bolsters River’s defensive options ahead of a busy schedule that includes the Torneo Apertura and the Copa Sudamericana.
Ramírez, a rising star in Argentine football, joins Los Millonarios following a successful stint with Argentinos Juniors. The transfer was facilitated by River Plate capitalizing on an exceptional extension granted following the sale of Matías Galarza Fonda to Atlanta United, allowing them to register the player outside the typical transfer window. He is expected to join training immediately.
Born in Virrey del Pino, Ramírez progressed through the youth ranks at Argentinos Juniors, making his professional debut on January 28, 2024, against – fittingly – River Plate, under then-manager Gabriel Milito. Since then, he has accumulated 43 official appearances for the club, maintaining a clean disciplinary record with five yellow cards and no red cards. While a muscular injury limited his playing time to just two matches in the 2026 season, his potential remains highly regarded.
River Plate manager Eduardo Coudet, who previously scouted Ramírez during his time at Deportivo Alavés, identified the young defender as a key target.
