Jakarta, Indonesia – March 7, 2026 – Following the departure of Jeff Jiang Jie, the Indonesian Volleyball Federation (PBVSI) is reportedly targeting Brazilian coach Issanaye Ramires Ferraz as the next head coach of the Indonesian men’s national volleyball team. The move comes after Indonesia failed to secure the gold medal at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, despite a silver medal finish and a recent SEA V League title.
The PBVSI officially relieved Jeff Jiang Jie of his duties after the team’s loss to Thailand in the final of the 2025 SEA Games. While the team achieved a silver medal and previously won a leg of the 2025 SEA V League, the ultimate goal of SEA Games gold remained elusive. The silver medal ended a three-year run of gold medals in the SEA Games for the Indonesian men’s volleyball team.
The search for a replacement has quickly focused on Issanaye Ramires Ferraz, a 42-year-old Brazilian coach currently leading the South Korean national team. Ferraz has been on the PBVSI’s radar for some time, according to reports. He was appointed head coach of the South Korean national team in 2024, having previously managed the national teams of Bahrain and Pakistan.
Although, a potential snag in the negotiations exists. According to South Korean media outlet My Daily, Ferraz is currently under contract with the Korean Volleyball Association until the finish of 2026. This would require negotiations between the PBVSI and the KVA to secure his release. The Indonesian team faces a busy schedule in 2026, including the Asian Games, the AVC Nations Cup, and the SEA V League, making a swift appointment crucial.

The PBVSI’s decision to pursue Ferraz signals a clear intent to elevate the Indonesian men’s volleyball program. The team, led by key players like Rivan Nurmulki, will need strong leadership to compete at the highest levels of international competition. The appointment of a coach with experience managing national programs, such as Ferraz, is seen as a vital step in achieving that goal.
The coming weeks will be critical as the PBVSI works to finalize the agreement with Issanaye Ramires Ferraz and prepare the team for its upcoming challenges. Fans will be eagerly awaiting official confirmation and details on the new coaching staff. The next major checkpoint for the Indonesian team is preparation for the 2026 Asian Games, where they will look to make a strong showing on the continental stage.
