The achievement came during the Los Angeles Lakers’ 134-126 victory over the Miami Heat at Kaseya Center. Robert Parish held the record for nearly 30 years, establishing the mark on April 6, 1996, after surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s previous total of 1,560 games. Now, that legacy passes to James, a player often referred to as “King James,” who continues to add to his own impressive collection of accomplishments.

“If anyone is deserving of breaking the iron man record, I would say LeBron James is,” Parish told ESPN. “Since he takes such good care of himself… His approach to fitness and what he puts into his body reflects how I felt about my fitness and what I ate, how I took care of myself. And so, it’s a testament to not only my longevity, but LeBron’s longevity.”

A Career Spanning Three Franchises

LeBron James was originally drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003 and has since played for three franchises: the Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers. His durability has allowed him to accumulate a remarkable 849 games with Cleveland (across two stints), 294 games with Miami, and 468 games with the Lakers, bringing his total to 1,611. And he talks all the time about not cheating the game and recognizing that he is one of the all-time greats. With that comes a lot of responsibility, and he does everything he can to live up to that responsibility.”
