A Guinness World Record for Mexico
Mexico secured a Guinness World Record on Sunday for the largest soccer lesson ever organized.
A total of 9,500 people participated in the approximately 40-minute lesson on the Zócalo square in Mexico City, surpassing the previous record of 1,038 people set in 2025 in Seattle.
This Guinness World Record is part of the activities organized by Mexico in connection with the World Cup, which will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Iranian Women’s Soccer Players Safe in Malaysia, According to AFC Secretary

Members of the Iranian soccer team prepare to leave Malaysia. Some teammates remained in Australia after the country granted them a humanitarian visa. They had refused to sing the Iranian national anthem.
The Iranian women’s soccer players are safe in Kuala Lumpur and are expected to be transferred to other destinations, as they cannot return to Iran immediately, said Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Secretary General Windsor John.
“At the moment, we’re waiting for them to advise us, and they’re waiting for the Federation [Iranian Football Federation] to contact them to tell them what they intend to do,” John said during a press conference.
He also indicated that he was unable to verify information that the players’ families had been pressured by Iranian authorities, adding that the players had expressed no concerns about their safety.
