SANTIAGO, Chile — Jimmy Martínez, the Universidad Católica midfielder, acknowledged defensive lapses following a 2-2 draw with Everton on Friday, March 13th. The result, even as securing a point, denied La Franja the chance to claim the top spot in the Chilean Primera División standings.
Martínez, who scored the equalizing goal for Universidad Católica, spoke candidly with TNT Sports after the match, stating, “Obviously those goals change what we worked on during the week, so next week we’ll work on not making the mistakes we perhaps could have controlled.” The midfielder’s comments underscore a growing concern within the team regarding early-game vulnerabilities.
