Jalen Green Finding His Rhythm with the Phoenix Suns
PHOENIX – After a somewhat rocky start following the All-Star break, Jalen Green appears to be finding his stride with the Phoenix Suns. The 24-year-old guard has shown flashes of his scoring potential in recent games, offering a glimmer of hope for his role within the team’s playoff push. Green, who was acquired by the Suns in 2025, is looking to establish himself as a key contributor alongside stars like Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.
Green’s recent performances have been encouraging, particularly his 25-point outing against the Novel Orleans Pelicans, where he shot 8-for-17 from the field. “I always want to score, but the difficulty comes when you try and it doesn’t go in,” Green explained after the game against New Orleans. “Every time I’m on the court, I’m trying to find my shots. What I’m also trying to spot is how I can fit into the rhythm of the offense.”
On Sunday, in a victory over the Charlotte Hornets, Green set the tone early, scoring 20 first-half points on an efficient 7-for-11 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range – a rare display of accuracy this season. However, the promising performance was tempered by a blow to the elbow during the first half. Whereas he returned to the game after halftime, his shooting touch diminished, finishing with 24 points on 8-for-19 shooting in 30 minutes.
“It feels good. I knew it was going to start falling,” Green said. “Now I just have to keep it going and keep this good energy on the next road trip.” He also expressed confidence in his physical condition, stating he feels better than he has all season. “I felt it as soon as I got to practice this morning, before the game against Charlotte: I had full confidence in my hamstrings.”
A Challenging First Season in Phoenix
Green’s first season with the Suns has been marked by inconsistency and injury setbacks. According to ESPN, he’s navigating a new team dynamic and adjusting to a different role than he held with the Houston Rockets. Despite the challenges, he has the full support of his coach, Jordan Ott.
“He’s missed several months of competition, and not just a few weeks,” Ott reminded reporters. “He’s had to assimilate a lot of things during the season, in a new team, with new teammates. No one is harder on himself than Jalen. Now, we need to help him find his shots and get back into rhythm. That’s what we’re trying to bring to each of the guys in the locker room.”
Devin Booker has also offered guidance to Green, drawing on his own experience with injury recovery. Booker himself missed significant time during the 2022-23 season due to a groin injury.
“After the game, I told him he just had to keep stacking games,” Booker said. “I’ve been through it, and when you approach back from an injury like that, it’s hard to regain confidence, even if you’re cleared to play. Especially for a player like him, who relies so much on his athleticism and speed. The more he plays, the better he’ll feel, and we got a glimpse of what he’s capable of.”
The Suns, currently seventh in the Western Conference, have won four of their last five games. With a record of 37 wins and 27 losses, Jordan Ott’s team has already surpassed their win total from the 2024-25 campaign.
