Andújar, Spain – The clubs S’arc d’Eivissa and Es Cubells demonstrated a strong start to the National League season at the I Spanish Grand Prix of Archery, held March 14th and 15th in Andújar, Jaén. The competition, a key event on the Spanish archery calendar, saw promising performances from both Ibiza-based teams.
The competition showcased the growing strength of archery on the island of Ibiza. S’arc d’Eivissa’s male recurve archers delivered notable results. Eduardo Santolaria led the team with an eighth-place finish, followed by Adrià Prats in fourteenth, Toni Roig in twenty-fourth, Pere Cincunegui in thirty-third and Andrei Robert Aghiorghieesei in fortieth. The Eivissa Patrimoni de la Humanitat team secured third place in the first round of the National League, solidifying their position as a competitive force.
S’arc d’Eivissa’s female recurve archers as well impressed. Pilar Pascual finished twenty-second, and María Nieves Montero placed thirty-seventh. The Eivissa Patrimoni de la Humanitat team, comprised of Nerea López, Pilar Pascual, Iria Vanrell, and María Nieves Montero, repeated their third-place finish in the league’s opening round.
Es Cubells Shines in Women’s Compound
Es Cubells made its mark in the compound bow category. In the men’s competition, Juan Carlos Cornelis Marí, a member of the Balearic Islands Technical Center, finished tenth. José Raúl Riera ended in eighteenth place, and Jaume Llorens Riera came in thirty-sixth. The Sant Josep.net team, consisting of these three archers, reached the round of sixteen and established themselves as a competitive team after the first day.
However, it was Es Cubells’ performance in the women’s compound category that truly stood out. Nur Gómez Bufí narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish, while Paula Hidalgo Marí secured fifth, Cristina Maneiro Calarde finished eighth, and Cristina Planells Serra placed twelfth. This performance propelled the Sant Josep.net team to the top of the National League standings after the first day, positioning them as strong contenders for honors this season.
In the mixed compound team event, Juan Carlos Cornelis Marí and Nur Gómez Bufí achieved a third-place finish. The duo of Cristina Maneiro Calarde and José Raúl Riera Marí finished eighth.
The mixed recurve pairing of Pilar Pascual Forteza and Eduardo Santolaria Mercedes finished eighth, adding another positive result for S’arc d’Eivissa.
The combined performance of S’arc d’Eivissa and Es Cubells in Andújar underscores the rising level of archery in Ibiza at the start of the national season. Both clubs continue to grow and reaffirm Ibiza’s position as a key center for the sport in Spain. Following that, the 1st Perfect League Outdoor Day will be held on March 22, 2026, at the Club de Tir Amb Arc Es Cubells.
